Host of the Elston Travel Show Travel Expert: Adventure and Leisure John@ElstonExpeditions.com I work very hard towards achieving a very special goal for my clients – and that is to make their travel dreams come true! For nearly half a century, I have been traveling around the country and around the world in just about every way possible. An established “jetsetter” from a very early age, I traveled across the United States, Mexico, and to parts of Europe including England and France, learning about airlines, trains (and rails), busses, car and RV travel, hovercrafts and helicopters, sleighs and horses, and even traveled by foot on some occasions. In my young adult years, I increased my travels across the USA comprehensively and made a point to become extremely knowledgeable about the cities and states I visited. It was important to develop a “relationship” with each National Park and be familiar with as many secrets that each had to offer. This also held true for many state and county parks and I took great delight in finding and enjoying the many historical sites and landmarks that told our nation’s story. Whether it was a road trip, train ride, or flight, the journey was always a new adventure! As the years passed, my knowledge, skills, and abilities in travel grew stronger and I often found myself in positions where I could help other travelers by sharing what I knew. I inherited from my father a love of trains, both old and new, and have been blessed with enjoying the experience of some of the authentic and still operating steam engines to the more modern Amtrak style train experiences which I love to share with others. From Stone Mountain to Durango, Rio Verde to The Grand Canyon, I have learned many interesting things about train travel. Of course, in Europe, trains are much more common as a regular form of transportation but they each have their own personalities and unique advantages to explore. Twenty-five years ago, I returned to the cruise lines (after my first cruise as a boy aboard the S.S. Azure Seas out of Long Beach, California) and would frequently sail on a variety of cruise lines and itineraries, and have since become a platinum VIP member across several cruise lines around the globe. I have extensively sailed the Caribbean, Bahamas, Atlantic Ocean, and both sides of Mexico as well as the Pacific ocean, western coast, and up to Alaska. This has allowed me to author expert review articles on several cruise communities and platforms. Sharing the many “gems” of knowledge that can truly make a difference in the quality of a cruiser’s experience has been a passion of mine. Of course, there are thousands of places around the world that are beautiful, special, enchanted, exotic, and even magical. I would like to think that I have seen many of them. However, when I made my personal discovery of the South Pacific, I truly found Heaven on Earth! This is Paradise at its very best! Tahiti, Mo’orea, Bora Bora, Raiatea, Rangiroa, Fakarava, and the rest of the French Polynesian Islands are home to some of the most breath-taking and beautiful places I have ever encountered on the planet! In fact, Bora Bora has been called the most romantic place on Earth and I have found this to be true! The beauty of the South Pacific stretches on to the Cook Islands, Fiji islands, and all the way west to New Zealand and Australia with unmatched sparkle and brilliance! So it quickly became my mission to become an expert on the South Pacific. Not only do I have real world experience there but I am also getting officially certified as a professional expert of South Pacific travel and tourism working with many local entities, tourism bureaus, tour operators, hotels and resorts, cruise lines, and various South Pacific destinations as a whole. Once again, I want to share with others the magic and amazement that I found there. In 2016, Elston Expeditions became one of the few travel agencies in the world to have its own show, called "The Informed Traveler Show". This is a show that is dedicated to sharing with the public tips, tricks, and secrets to traveling and vacationing that will enhance and improve the overall experience as well as help to avoid situations that can cause travel to become problematic. I was asked to become the show’s host and to share my experience and knowledge. It has been a huge success and now the show enjoys listeners from around the world and all over the USA. In 2017, the "Informed Traveler Show" changed its name to the "Elston Travel Show" due to a trademark conflict issue that was discovered in Canada but it still delivers great travel content and useful information to the public. I consider it an honor to be able to serve and share my knowledge, expertise, experience, skills, and abilities with my clients. If you’re looking for a travel agent who will be your travel advocate, to build a long term relationship with, who can bring you decades of real experience, give you insights, and expand your opportunities, and work on your behalf as a professional certified travel adviser, let me come work for you. Nothing would make me happier than to make your travel dreams come true! |
